Elvin BIRONIEN - Bassplayer / Composer

Born on September 26 1986 in south west France, Elvin grew up in a family where Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Serge Gainsbourg and Salif Keita were usually listened to. This awoke his creativity and he realized that music doesn’t have any limits.

As a self-taught musician, he started music by piano and percussion and start playing electric bass at the age of thirteen.

Open-minded, he quickly diversified his musical experiences with collaborations in jazz, afro descendant music (salsa, timba, raggae, zouk, trad…) and also urban music like pop or hip hop.

Coming from a multi-cultural family, he was inspired by the caribean roots of his grandfather and, Caribbean music have a special place in his musical journey.

At 18, he moved to Toulouse city and start his career by playing with many local artists. He also start some personal project more as  FDH trio with the pianist Thibaud Dufoy and the drummer Arnaud Dolmen.

Together they play in many events and contests and in 2012, they released “Le Free du hazard” album with renowned guest artists: Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Mino Cinelu and Sonny Troupé.

After he moved to Paris in 2014, he have the opportunity to record his first personal album “A QUEST”  which was released in November 2016.

He is also develop a sideman career and you can listen to him with many artists: Nesrine, Gregory Privat, Kareen Guiock Thuram, Mokhtar Samba, Malika Tirolien, Manolin el Medico, Tony ChasseurAkua Naru, Erik Pedurand, José PrivatXavier Belin, Le cabaret de poussière

In 2022, he released his second personal album “LUEURS”. The album is very well received: CHOC Jazzmag, Indispensable Jazznews, Album du jour TSF Jazz…

in 2024, he is resident artist at la scène nationale Tropique Atrium de Martinique in duo with guitarist Ralph Lavital. They create  Biguine Extension  and they are joined by percussionist Adriano  Tenorio.
